Development of Living Skills

The Development of Living Skills (DLS) program is a comprehensive educational intervention system designed for families at risk for child abuse and neglect.

The DLS program focuses on the primary family caregiver. Professional child development specialists provide DLS clients with educational lessons designed to strengthen family skills and to build a safe and nurturing environment for children. Funding for DLS has continued since 1983 through grants from the Butler County Children Services Board.

The DLS curriculum includes the following individual and family education topics:

  • Parenting
  • Food Safety
  • Money Management
  • Child Development
  • Home Safety
  • Nutrition
  • Sanitation
  • Conflict Resolution
